Diagnostic area


The Diagnostic Service of Parasitology is performed at the Laboratories of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production (PAR-UNINA), OVUD-University of Naples Federico II, via Delpino 1, 80137 Naples and at the Laboratories of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of the Regional Center for Monitoring of Parasitic Diseases (CREMOPAR), SS18, Borgo Cioffi, Eboli (SA), agreement with Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Production.

At the PAR-UNINA/OVUD there is a service of Parasitological Diagnosis and Advice for dogs, cats, avian species, exotic and unconventional animals.

At the CREMOPAR there is a service of Parasitological Parasitological Diagnosis and Advice of cattle, water buffaloes, sheep, goats, horses and pigs.

Moreover, our laboratories carry out a service of Parasitological Diagnosis and Advice for humans, as WHO Collaborating Center for Diagnosis of intestinal helminths and protozoa.

Our laboratories use a Quality Management System in compliance with the standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2015.

The Service of Diagnostic Parasitology uses quali-quantitative, multivalent, highly sensitive and accurate diagnostic techniques, FLOTAC, Mini-FLOTAC and Fill-FLOTAC.

Moreover, immunological (ELISA, IFAT, etc.) and molecular (PCR, PCR-RFLP, sequencing of DNA) techniques are performed for the diagnosis of protozoa and helminths in faeces, urine, blood, as well as the morphological and molecular identification of different species of parasites.

The Service of Diagnostic Parasitology is active from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 16:00 pm.
